Friends of the Koala is calling for Tweed Shire locals to become Koala Watchers, and will be holding a free workshop on Saturday 17th March 9.30am-12.30pm at the Murwillumbah Civic and Cultural Centre, Canvas and Kettle Room, 10-14 Tumbulgum Road, Murwillumbah. Susannah Keogh, Koala Care Coordinator, who will be delivering the workshop, said “early reporting koalas in need of care can improve chances of successful treatment, rehabilitation, and release back into their natural habitat”. The workshop will provide information on:
- becoming a koala watcher
- recognising the signs of healthy, sick, injured and distressed koalas
- situations where koalas may need koala watchers
- what you can do to help support a healthy koala population in your local community
Refreshments provided. Koala Watch is a NSW Environmental Trust Project. If you would like more information or to register for the workshop contact Maria Matthes, Koala Watch Project Officer, on 0467 855 990 or firstname.lastname@example.org or Friends of the Koala on 6621 4664.
