Cat's claw creeper is a woody vine that can completely smother native vegetation, especially along rivers, killing trees and understorey plants. The large climbing stems can also reach to the top of the forest canopy where, through a combination of weight and shading, they can cause the eventual death of the largest canopy trees.

As South East Queensland has developed, local councils have undertaken ongoing ecological restoration work in partnership with the community to maintain, enhance and protect our natural environment and its biodiversity. Restoration work controls weeds, re-establishes wildlife corridors and assists the recovery of ecosystems that are degraded, damaged, or destroyed.

A weed is a plant growing where it is not wanted, weeds in agriculture and those that invade bushland are difficult and costly to control.

Bush Regeneration is the rehabilitation of land from a weed affected or otherwise degraded area to a healthier community of native plants and animals. From bushlands to coastal dunes or rainforests or wetlands, the aim is to restore and maintain the ecosystem's health by helping the natural regeneration of indigenous plants.
