The Containers for Change Refund Scheme (also known as the ‘Container Deposit Scheme’), with proceeds donated through Queensland Airports Limited, supported a number of Tweed care groups and Tweed Landcare members to undertake targeted restoration work at Landcare group sites and private properties located within the Tweed Shire Region of NSW.

Between January and July 2025 a number of Tweed care groups and Tweed Landcare members have been supported to undertake targeted restoration work at care group sites and private properties located within the Tweed.  A total of five grants of $1,600 each were awarded to three Landcare groups and two private properties to undertake on-ground targeted restoration work between January and June 2025. The grants supported purchase of native plants and hiring of bush regenerators to undertake best-practice assisted regeneration.

These grants uplifted community motivations to care for the land around them. Grants greatly helped bolster Landcare Groups and private properties existing on-ground restoration work who have greatly appreciated the work that has gone into helping their small groups manage hard to tackle weeds, whilst supporting property owners’ abilities to regenerate remnant bushland.
