Follow The Rain Film Night

Tweed Landcare hosted a screening of the new feature documentary Follow the Rain at the Regent Cinema in Murwillumbah on the evening of Thursday 8 August 2024. The screening was followed by a Q&A with the director/cinematographer Catherine Marciniak and presenter/time-lapse videographer Stephen Axford. Stephen Axford and his partner in life and all things fungi, filmmaker Catherine Marciniak took us into their fungi obsessed world.

This documentary took us on along the journey of the film makers to Follow the Rain – and find out where fungi fit into the world of living things. Fungi were observed in some of the most stunning wild landscapes of Australia – tropical islands, ancient rainforests, the hostile majesty of the desert. Mycologists revealed mind-expanding science, and who unearthed new and charismatic species. They discovered the creepiness of zombie fungi and the wonder of the Australian ghost fungus. This film took us behind the scenes into their fungarium, revealing what they observed as they recorded the life and death of mushrooms and mycelium growing in spellbinding time-lapses.
