For National Tree Day 2025, Tweed Landcare and our partners helped restore native vegetation along the Tweed River on the 27 July at Col Wiley Park, Byangum.
1000 trees were planted at the site which will help restore the flood damaged river bank at Byangum and bring back important vegetation to the area and support waterway health. This site is part of our region’s drinking water supply, so planting trees will help protect water quality, reduce erosion during floods, and create more habitat for wildlife.

Other tree planting events were also held across the Tweed in support of National tree Day, including at Fingal Head where 600 trees were planted to to enhance recovery of the coastal woodland environment, and at Kynnumboon Forest, alongside WaterGum and Tweed Shire Council.
